Gleich bauen wir Künstler unsere Abschluss-Ausstellung in der SIM Residency ab und haben noch einen letzten artist talk. Morgen breche ich über den Süden Islands ganz in den Osten auf.
Im Juli werde ich in Zusammenarbeit mit Thröstur Eysteinsson vom Iceland Forest Service in Egilsstadir (ca 700 KM von Reykjavik) Skulpturen aus einheimischer Birke und Lärche schaffen.
Danach geht’s nach Vopnafjördur, an den Strand von Oddur Johannsson, wo ich mit der Motorsäge aus Treibholz Objekte sägen will.
Und dann: das Eis. Der Major of Hornafjördur, Björn Ingi Jonsson und seine Kunstreferentin Vala Gardapdottir, unterstützen mich beim Arbeiten mit Eis in einer Icelagoon. Weiter geht’s mit den Vorbereitungen für Global Raft – melting sculptures 2016.

Soon we deinstall our final exhibition at SIM Residency and will have a last artist talk. Tomorrow I’ll depart via the south into the east of Iceland.
In July, I’m going to create sculptures from local birch and larch in cooperation with Thröstur Eysteinsson from Iceland Forest Service in Egilsstadir (ca 700 KM from Reykjavik). Then it’s off to Vopnafjördur where I want to cut objects from driftwood with my chainsaw on the beach of Oddur Johannsson.
And then: the ice. The Major of Hornafjördur, Björn Ingi Jonsson and his art consultant Vala Gardapdottir, support me when working with ice in an icelagoon. We continue with the preparations for Global Raft – melting sculptures 2016.
